{"id":827,"date":"2011-10-16T15:25:56","date_gmt":"2011-10-16T20:25:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=827"},"modified":"2014-12-16T11:21:26","modified_gmt":"2014-12-16T17:21:26","slug":"rich-young-ruler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=827","title":{"rendered":"Rich Young Ruler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Matthew 11:28-30, Mark 10:17-21<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>When one meets Jesus he must make the most important decision of his life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I: The rich young ruler:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. &#8220;There came one running.&#8221;<br \/>\n2. &#8220;And kneeled to him.&#8221;<br \/>\n3. &#8220;And asked him, Good master.&#8221;<!--more--><br \/>\n4. &#8220;What shall I do?&#8221;<br \/>\n5. &#8220;That I may inherit eternal life?&#8221;<br \/>\n6. He came in haste, he took a humble posture, he asked what he could do, he wanted eternal life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II: &#8220;And Jesus said unto him.&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Are you addressing me as God? What do you mean by what you have said? (Adam, Moses, Elijah, Isaiah, Peter, and Paul).<br \/>\n2. Are you practicing what you know is right?<br \/>\na. You know right, are you living right?<br \/>\nb. Adultery can be in looks and thought.<br \/>\nc. Lies can be told by half truths.<br \/>\nd. There are many ways to cheat.<br \/>\ne. How is your relationship at home?<br \/>\n3. Master all these have I done from my youth.<br \/>\n4. Jesus took him at his word.<\/p>\n<p><strong>III: 1 thing is missing.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. He may have been an example in his conduct before others.<br \/>\n2. Jesus was not out to bargain with the young man. Eternal life could not be earned or bought.<br \/>\na. Most churches would have been thrilled that he came &#8230; even on his terms!<br \/>\nb. He would have gotten on the Finance commitee and Youth Council the 1st business meeting. (He is a wonderful leader and we have made him youth director but he is a social drinker)! California 1970<br \/>\n3. Go sell and give then come!<br \/>\na. Jesus wasn&#8217;t ready to accept the worlds standard nor hand out easy passes to Heaven.<br \/>\nb. The narrow gate and way was too costly to be compromised. It costed Jesus all, and anyone who walks on it must be willing to pay all.<br \/>\nc. No one can have eternal life at a bargain price.<br \/>\n4. The cross must be taken by free choice.<br \/>\n5. He was sad, he went away in sorrow. He was said but unwilling to pay the high price.<br \/>\n6.
