Concerning the Collection
Cor. 1 9:1-16, 16:1-4 Paul was concerned about the collection and he wanted the Church at Corninth to be concerned also. This was one of their greatest failures and it was the only thing Paul owed and gave an apology for. I: We ought to be concerned about the Collection. 1. The Collection keeps the building open, turns on lights, heats or cools, hires a Janitor or office help, furnishes equipment, piano, organ, Youth Programs and adult needs, Pastor to preach, visit sick, needy, marry the living, bury the dead, and bear the complicated burdens of every discription. Preaches the Gospel around the world, and is a spiritual gage of our love and devotion to the Master. It’s the bugle call of loyalty. (Santa Moniea High School Bugle). 2. Pastors ought to be...
Who Hath Believed Our Report
Isaiah 53:1-12, Luke 2 When we see how far the world has strayed from the true Spirit of Christmas, we feel like raising our voice with Isaiah of old and say, “Who hath believed our report?” I: Do we really believe that Bethlehem took its place in fulfilled Prophecy? 1. Do we believe that there was a purpose and mission that the Christ child came to fulfill? 2. Does the Manger point us to the Cross and the Cross lead us to serve Him? 3. Does the Christ-childs birthday give us the real Hope of Eternal Peace and Salvation? 4. Dare we believe the angels appeared to Zaccariah, Mary, Joseph, and the Shepherds? 5. Was there really a star that led Wise Men to that child’s bedside? II: “Though thou be little among the thousands of Judah.”...
Workmen that Need Not Be Ashamed
Timothy 2 2:15-16 I: Study, Plan, and Purpose: 1. Study God’s word, study the needs of your class, study the individual. 2. Plans make for a good building. Plans help us to count the cost and keeps our eyes open as though where we are going. 3. Purpose in your heart to plow the field thoroughly without a backward look. II: Practice what you preach. Romans 2:21- 1. “Teachest thou not thyself?” 2. “Thou that preachest a man shouldn’t steal, dost thou steal?” Do you steal from God’s time, talent, or tithe? 3. Doest thou commit sacrilege? 4. Do you bring dishonor to God? 5. Your actions will speak louder than your words, your will teach by example whether you want to or not. III: Work as one body. Cor. 1 12:13-22. 1. Jesus...
Zacchaeus, Make haste and come down
Luke 19:1-10 I: Zacchaeus, the Tax Collector: 1. He was a man of Business. 2. He was accustomed to wealth and pleasure. 3. He sought to see Jesus. 4. He didn’t let others stand in his way. 5. He found a way to overcome obstacles in his way. II: Zaccheaus meets Jesus: 1. He gladly gave up his old life. 2. He received Jesus with joy. 3. His heart was moved to meet the needs of needy people. 4. He was ready to do more than required to right the wrongs he had done. III: The 1st thing Jesus asked him to do was to come down from the tree. 1. Namath would have remained a Leper had he refused to bathe in Jordan. 2. Matthew would have remained a tax collector had he refused to leave the job of collecting taxes. 3. Peter would have remained an obscure Fisherman had...
