Rebellion Against Light
Job 24:13, Matthew 5:14-16
God said, let there be light, and there was light, and God saw the light that it was good. And God divided the light from the darkness.
“In Him was life: and the life was the light of men.” John 1:4.
“The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light; that all men through Him might believe.” John 1:7.
“That was the true light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” John 1:9.
“I am the light of the world: He that follewth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12.
To rebel against the revealed will of God is to rebel against His light and to walk in darkness. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
I: What kind of light have you had?
1. Were you raised in a Christian home?
2. Has God called you to a deeper knowledge?
3. Do you rebel against His call to a closer walk?
II: Why do men Rebel?
1. Lot: Some are willing to obey because of the cost.
2. It takes time and thought to follow the light.
3. The light would expose selfishness and make us live for others.
4. The light would curtail worldly pleasures and habits.
5. The light would make us to see ourselves as we really are.
III: The Danger of Rebellion:
1. God will cease to give when we cease to live.
2. Humpreys: We may have what little we possess taken away from us.
3. Our family, neighbors, and friends may go to Hell because of our blindness.
You may stand before God with empty hands.
