The Call, the Road, the Destiny

Matthew 19:19-23, Mark 1:16-20
I doubt that it’s possible to accept Christ as Saviour and knowingly refuse him as Lord.

I: “Come.” This is the 1st step in the Christian life:
1. Separation from sin, from old patterns of life.
a. Repentance toward God.
b. Faith in Jesus as Saviour.
c. A new life, a new outlook.
2. Sacrifice – The cost may be more than some care to pay, (rich young ruler).
3. Sanctification – Consecration, set apart.

II: “Follow me.” “I am the way.” “I am the door.” John 10:1.
1. There is no other name given whereby a man can be saved.
2. This call is to follow a person: the Son of God.
3. Not the Church, the people, nor an individual.
4. Trouble is certain for any Christian that loses sight of Jesus and looks at others as a guide or a stumbling block.
5. When we give 1st place to anything or person besides Jesus we walk in darkness.

III: “I will make you to become…”
1. This is included in the call of Jesus.
2. To ignore this willingly is to live in rebellion.
3. He knows all our weaknesses, yet can teach everyone how to win others.
4. This is God’s ordained way to evangelize the world.

IV: The Churches Job:
1. To extend the call.
2. To magnify Jesus.
3. To equip the members to be soul-winners.
4. Jesus died for the Church.
5. Every member is a Pastor, (one who reads).

The Christian that’s not active in winning men to Christ falls short of a full Christian life.
