What is Sin?
Romans 6:16-23, 7:13
Sin is a crooked, preverse, distorted, rotteness of the soul. Sin drives the brain mad, makes the heart desperately wicked, blinds the eyes, defeans the ears and sets the tonge on fire of Hell.
I: The Reality of Sin:
1. Sin isn’t a fancy of the mind nor a thing we can ignore.
2. Satan is real and not a myth.
3. Sin is real to Adam and Eve.
4. Men good and bad know that God’s wrath is upon sin.
a. Adam & Eve tasted the penalty.
b. Israel as a Nation found that it was real.
c. Ahab and his wicked wife paid the price.
d. David gathered many a heartache from his crop of sin.
II: The Results of Sin: One word, death.
1. The whole body & soul is effected.
2. The soul that sins shall die. The wages of sin is death.
3. Members of the body effected:
a. The Heart as the seat of effection.
b. The Mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
c. The Eyes become filed with adultery, envy, & spride, but blind to the goodness of God. “Pluck it out!” Matthew 18:9.
d. “Hands become instruments of sin and bring one to the pits of Hell.” Matthew 18:8.
e. “The Feet are effected by sin and run to shed inncent blood and walk one into eternal Hell.” Matthew 18:8.
f. Sin seperates eternally from God.
III: The Cure for Sin:
1. Man has tried many ways to rid himself of sin.
a. Adam & Eve tried fig leaves.
b. Idols have always fooled man.
c. Israel tried a golden calf.
d. Heatern offered everything from children to chickens.
e. Always there is the feeling that the Gods aren’t appeased, (The baggy pants of Africa).
2. Jesus Christ came to make possible a way out.
a. His life was lived to show us the way.
b. His death on Calvary opened the Cleansing Fountain.
c. His resurrection shows his power to complete the way.
