Work out Your Own Salvation
Phillip 2:12-16
When we regard Christian religion as a performance and not an experience, we lose the dynamic living faith and the Christian life, becomes a wearisome performance. The fog of unbelief seeps in and chokes our joy and confidence. “Christianity is full of joy, but it’s not a joy ride.”
I: “For it’s God who is at work within you.”
1. “It’s God that…” God’s personality.
2. Gods presence … working through us.
3. God’s energy … Giving you the will.
4. God’s moral standard.
5. God helps to move the will.
6. God’s power. Power for the task.
7. God’s good pleasure.
Work out what he works in. What is He trying to work in you?
II: “Without Murmuring:”
1. Murmurings stand for ill-concealed, half-checked, and half-utterd complaints.
2. Disputes are murmerings come to surface in angry discussion.
III: “Lights in a dark place.”
1. Our influence can be light or darkness. Dare we cast a shadow?
2. “We may shine amid the dark night which has rested on mankind ever since the sun went down on Calvary in blood-red skies.”
3. “You hold in your hands the very word of life.”
God works in us and gives us the power to do His work.
