The Sign of the Potters House
Jeremiah 18:1-12, Timothy 2 2:15-24
I: “He wrought a work on the wheels.”
1. The clay 1st was taken from the pit.
2. Then cleaned of impurities.
3. Placed on the wheel.
4. Molded by the Potters hand.
II: The Vessel was marred.
1. Some impurity caused a mar.
2. It wasn’t appliable.
3. It was unfit for service.
“I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection, lest that by any means when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” Cor. 1 9:27.
III: He made it again.
1. He crushed and reworked the clay.
“And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children. My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him. For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”
“If ye endure chastening God dealeth with you as with sons, for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all as partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons? Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrested us, and we gave them reverence; shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits to live?”
“For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure, but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous, nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” Hebrews 12:5-11
2. The impurities must be removed, Peter, Paul, and great men of God.
3. “Then a new vessel was made and placed in the Kiln.” Timothy 2 2:20-21.
