10 Yrs. Old in A Pinch

Cor. 2 6:1-10
Some men are good soldiers on the parade ground, but break and run on the field of battle. Some people talk a good Christian life, but never seem to have what it takes to die daily for Christ. Too many men are 10 yrs. old in a pinch.

I: “Receive not the grace of God in vain.” (Continue in sin).
1. The grace of God isn’t to be received like water into the Dead Sea.
a. The Jordan River has life until it enters the Dead Sea.
b. Water that has no out-let becomes stagnet.
c. God urges upon us the urgency of Spiritual exercise.
2. A lifeless Christian is a stumbling block to others.
a. He becomes a burden to his church and often a source of trouble.
b. Others are often persuaded to follow his example.
c. Sinners see no difference in their life and his.

II: Proving ourselves under fire or in a pinch.
The world as well as the Church expects a true soldier of God to stand in the hour of trial.
1. Proving ourselves in the Physical: Patience, afflictions, necessities, distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, and in fastings.
2. Proving ourselves in the Mental: Pureness, knowledge, longsuffering, and kindness.
3. Proving ourselves in the Spiritual: By the Holy Ghost, love unfeigned, word of truth, and armour of righteousness.

All these things will prove our Christian sincerity. Gods men are to stand the test, job, Abraham, Isaiah, and Elijah.
