Willfully Blind

Luke 16:19-31, Peter 2 3:1-7

Men have become masters at the art of closing their eyes to what they don’t wish to see. Things we are forced to look upon we try to kid ourselves into believing they aren’t so bad.
The most dissappointed man in the World is the man who tries to make himself believe a lie.
False religions spring up when men try to side step the facts of God’s word. Jesus told of theives that would try to climb into the fold.

I: How can we be blind to immortality?
1. As sure as God made man, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, He made him for eternity.
2. The Scriptures tell us of life beyond the grave.
3. The Church is a testimony to life beyond the grave.
4. Every tribe, kindred, and tongue manifest a belief in life beyond the grave.
5. The tombs and graves of yrs. gond by tell of life beyond the grave.

II: Do we shut our eyes to the reality of Hell?
1. If there is life beyond the grave, there must be a prepared place to spend eternity.
2. “In hell he lifted up his eyes.” (His eyes were opened).
3. He was in torment, he was conscious of torment.
4. He saw what he had missed.
5. He sought mercy but found none.
6. He was thirsty but could get no water.
7. He remembered the past life on Earth.
8. He became Missionary minded, but too late.
9. He wanted the Preachers help but was beyond the Preachers reach.

III: Are we blind to our lost loved ones danger?
1. Do we not see that Hell is God’s prison?
2. That the vilest of vile people will make up its population?
3. Are we blind to the fact that it doesn’t take murder to send one to Hell?
4. Can we not see that the Virgin without Christ will go to Hell?
5. Do we kid ourselves that God will overlook the sin of our boy or girl, our husband or wife?
6. Do we say that there is plenty of time and shut our eyes to God’s warning?

The blind eyes can be opened and save us and our loved ones from Eternal sorrow if we are willing for Jesus to touch them.
