When Satan Makes His Bid
Job 1:6, Isaiah 14:12-15
Satan is real, has left his mark on every generation. From the garden of Eden to this hour, he has done his best to keep men from doing the will of God. I believe that his own fall came through putting his will above the will of God. Isiah 14:12-15.
I: Some Things We Know About Him.
1. He has personal characteristics: Intelligence, memory, and knowledge.
2. Personal Actions: He speaks, he tempts, he accuses, he makes war, he has access to Heaven, he is active on Earth.
II: The Character of Satan:
1. “He abode not in the truth.” John 8:44. “His heart was lifted up.”
2. Satan: Forty-two times he is called Satan, which means, “hater, enemy, or adversary.” Of all the evil passions of the soul, hate is the most terrible. One that hates has taken the first step to murder.
3. Thirty-five times Devil is used, which means the “accuser or slanderer.” Hebrew word means hairy goat — a spoiler, a defiler of that which is clean.
4. The Prince of the Power of the Air.
a. The God of this age.
b. The father of all lies.
III: When Satan Bid for Job.
1. His appearance among the sons of God.
2. His explanation of why Job served God and his accusation.
3. Satan the destroyer attracts Job.
IV: Job the Man of God:
1. God’s fence was taken down.
2. In sorrow he clung to God.
3. When all about things failed to go right he trusted God.
4. Satan will try everyone of us, and were it not for God, he would slay us.
5. When we are tested, let us be prepared to flee to the eternal rock.
