“Where is the Guest Chamber?”
Mark 14:12-17, Hebrews 13:2
Many a home has entertained angles unaware.
I: Hospitality in the Old Testament:
1. Abraham made his tent a place of hospitality.
2. The widow of Zarephath shared a handful of meal and a little oil.
3. The Shunamite woman said: “Let us make a little chamber.”
II: Many Homes Were Opened to Jesus:
1. He had no home to call his own.
2. He was invited to the wedding at Cane.
3. He was visiting in Peter’s home when he healed his mother-in-law.
4. Zacharias entertained the Master.
5. Martha, Mary, and Lazarus made their home a place for Jesus to come.
III: Where is the Guest Chamber?
1. Paul Brutian — 98 churches, only four homes invited him as guest.
2. Rev. Jackson of Brazil, two California homes.
3. 25,000 Chinese never saw the inside of American homes.
4. Jesus urged his followers to hospitality and the early church showed their Christianity by hospitality.
5. “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers.”
Where is the guest chamber, furnished and prepared?
