“With What Body Do They Come?”

Cor. 1 15:35-54

I: What Does the Bible Reveal About Our Change From Time To Eternity?
1. How long does the change from time to eternity take?
a. The thief on the cross dies at a late hour in the day.
b. Stephen’s eyes already were seeing heavenly scenes as he died.
c. Dr. Bateman, “What glory, the angels are waiting for me.”
2. What will we know of self, of family, of friends of the past? Divies & Lazarus.
a. Identity: There will have been a change, but we will still recognize each other, (Uncle Sid Jones).
b. What amazement will one behold when the spiritual eyes look for the first time upon eternal things? No splendor of earth can compare. Paul’s wind was staggered.
c. We will know where we are & why we are there.
d. We will know of friends & family left behind, (Divie’s brothers).
e. We will know those that have gone on before, (Elijah & Moses).

II: What Did Jesus Teach About the Resurrection of the Body?
1. “The trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised.” Cor. 1 15:52.
2. “The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice, and shall come forth. John 5:28.
3. Jesus proved power to resurrect the body in every stage.
  a. Jairus daughter – Luke 8:49-56 (just died).
b. Son of the widow of Nain. Luke 7:11-18 (on the way to the grave).
  c. Lazarus John 11:1-54 (one buried already).
d. Saints that had been buried for years were resurrected on the day of his crucification) Matthew 27:52-23.

III: What Did the Holy Church Teach? Cor. 1 15:
1. Paul painted to the vegetable life as a picture.
a. Winter brings apparent death, spring resurrects.
b. Animals that change from one long sleep to new life.
2. The fact of Jesus’s resurrection assures our own.
3. There will be a resurrection of the just and the unjust.

Are we prepared for this hour that will surly come?
