The Holy Spirit

Acts 1:1-5

I: A Person:
1. Not an it, but a person.
He can be grieved, rejected, blasphemed, and received.
2. He is always a symbol of power.
The spirit of God in action.

II: Old Testament:
1. Present in Creation Booed over creation.
2. The breath of life breathed into man.
3. Clothed himself with Gedion, came upon others.
4. Job said “The breath of the Almighty hath given me life.”

III: The Holy Spirit & the Christian:
1. Promised in: John 14:26 (in their darkest hour), 16:6-15.
2. John 14:26. The comforter, the teacher, and the reminder.
3. John 16:6. Would come when Jesus left! Jesus walked with them, the Holy Spirit would dwell within them.
a. He would convict the world of sin (Cindy).
b. He would convict the world of righteousness.
  c. He would convict the world of judgment.
d. He would guide the Christian into all truth.
e. He would magnify and glorify Jesus.
4. Saved by convicting power of the Holy Spirit.
5. Sealed by the Holy Spirit Ephesians 1:13-14.
     Sealed – (Roman Seal).

He is the earnest of our inheritance. The down payment, the promise of God that He will complete the transaction. God’s pledge to purchase, the engagement ring placed upon the Christians life!

6. The sign of the infilling, the presence of the Holy Spirit.
a. He set us aside for God’s service.
b. The best evidence of His presence in our life is found in Gal. 5:19-25.
c. Not in so called tongues, but fruit!
d. He is our constant companion, without Him I would be nothing.
e. Not me having the Holy Spirit, but how much He has of me?

The fruit of the spirit is not given in a single act, but in a fruit-bearing life.
“These are not drunk. Be not drunk, but Be filled with.”
Eph. 5:18.
