“Thou Fool”

Meaning of the word fool: Evil, self-confident, empty person, thick headed, thoughtless, unwise, headless, a rebel. Luke 12:13-21
Scripture: “The fool hath said in his heart there is no God.” Psalm 14:1
“The ways of a fool is right in his own eyes.” Prov. 12:15
“A fools voice is known by a multitude of words.” Ecc. 5:3
“Fools make a mock at sin.” Prov. 14:9
“O fools and slow of heart to believe” Luke 24:25

I: The Fool Will Not Look At Realities
“The eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.” Prob. 17:24
a. Better opportunities tomorrow.
b. His better self lives for tomorrow.
c. He looks away from home for goodness.
d. The cause of failure is not in his own home.

II: “He Thought Within Himself.”
1. Instead of thinking of sharing he thought of self.
2. Instead of thanking God for it he thought only of what he could do with it. (headless)
3. “What shall I do?” A good question & demands a definite answer. (thoughtless)
4. “I have no room” more than expected, his only thought was his own barns.
5. “This will I do.” (self-confident.)
6. “I will pull down my barns.” (unwise). Next year might be a famine.
7. “I will build greater.” Preparations for a crop not yet gathered. (thick-headed)
8. “Will I bestow all my fruit? (boast) not thyself.”
9. “I shall be at ease.” Eat, drink, & have a good time. (mirth)

III: “But God.”
1. “Thou fool this night.” (headless)
2. God sent the death angel to that home.
3. He never saw the harvest finished.
4. His barns were forgotten as he felt deaths chill.
5. Others gathered his fruitful fields.
6. His joy was turned to sorrow. His case was in a place of torment.

“So is he that layeth up treasures for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:21.
