Thankfulness
The 1st harvest in Plymouth, Colony 1621, in gratitude for rain after drought, 1623, for supplies of sorely need food received by ship. 1632 became an annual observance. President Washington set a day of Thanksgiving 1789. President Lincoln sat the last Thursday in November as a day of Thanksgiving.

I: God Set Reminders before Israel.
1. There was the morning and evening lamb every day, the Sabbath every week, the New Moon every month, the Passover every year, the Release every 7th year, the Jubilee every 50 years.
2. The Sabbath was a day of rest and worship.
3. The Release year was a year of rest for land and people, also a year to release the Debtor.
a. God tripled the crops on the 6th year.
4. The year of Jubilee: The trumpet sounded thru the land.
a. Every farm and estå†e felt the refreshing influence.
b. The Exile could come home.
c. The Captives were set free.
d. The Prisoners were released.
e. Every family made ready to receive home the lost members.
f. The Slave cast aside the chains and became free.
g. The ruined and poverty strickend received the lost estate.
II: Unthankfulness in the Dry Rot of the Soul.
1. One may not feel thankfulness or may feel it but never express his thankfulness.
2. The 1st Chapter of Romans says that God gave up the Unthankful.
3. The Unjust Steward gives us a perfect picture of the Unthankful.
a. His debt was more than he could hope to pay. Matt. 18:23-35.
b. The King called for a settlement.
c. He pleaded for mercy for his family and himself.
d. His debt was canceled (10,000 talents).
e. He immediately refused to show mercy. He choked a man to listen to his plea and cast him into Prison.
What a tide of blessing, what a pushing sound!!! Let us take time to be thankful. Jesus offers rest for the labor. My peace I give unto you. He sets the Captive free.
