The Promised Messiah

Gen. 3:1-24

I: In the Garden of Eden.
1. Here Man’s perfect setting should include him to worship God.
2. Here his schooling began.
3. His 1st lesson was obedience and Reverence.
4. The keeping of the garden was his charge, (The 1st thing given to man).
5. The Tree of Life was Adams gospel.
6. Perhaps we didn’t feel his need or had pride in his own sufficiency, or doubt as to the efficiency of the Tree, or was uncertain of the consequences.
7. Adam was left with the Will of God as his only guide.

II: Mans Disobedience: Discontent, and Envy.
1. Satan’s approach: “Ye shall not surely die.” A question of God’s goodness.
2. Discontent is preparation for unbelief.
3. Coveting followed discontent.
4. Unbelief in God’s word.
5. Disobedience followed unbelief.
6. Shame and fear.
7. Deception followed.

III: Gods Promise of a Savior 3:15.
1. A curse placed on the Serpent.
2. All nature bore the curse.
3. Death now ruled over all.
4. “And the Lord God made for Adam and his wife coats of skin and clothed them.”
a. Death to cover their shame and sin.
b. Here is the 1st revealing of the Christmas story.

Shedding and blood. The Cradle moved toward the Cross. Christmas is a happy time, but a sad time also.
