Eyes

Matt. 6:22-23, Matt. 7:3-5, Prov. 23:6

I: The Marvels of the Eye.
1. It is mentioned 534 times in the bible.
2. The eye has a language of its own.
“It flashes with indignation, kindles with enthusiasm, expands with devotion, melts with sympathy, stares with fright, droops with sadness, pales with hate, fires with revenge, twinkles with miry, beams with love, and contract with pain.”
3. It’s greater than any man-made precision instrument.

II: Eyes that See Not.
1. Spoken of idols and spiritually dead eyes.
2. Blind to spiritual values.
3. Blind to responsibilities.
4. Blind to opportunities.
5. Blind to the harvest that is ripe.
6. Blind to the will of God.

III: “The Eyes of a Fool Are in the Ends of the Earth.” Prov. 17:24
1. Grass is greener on the other side.
2. Always doing something tomorrow.
3. Could be a good missionary in some other place.
4. He is so busy gazing at faraway places he fails to see the need at his very door.

IV: The Eyes of Evil.
1. Hard, cold eyes, muddy eyes, shifty eyes, lustful eyes.
2. The mocking, greedy eyes.
3. Eyes that mock and make sport at anothers expense.
4. Jealous eyes that are blind to virtue.
5. Lustful eyes that rub dirt on all that they see.
6. Fault find eyes that see the mote but miss the beam.
7. Eyes can become a sewer channel to the heart.

V: “The Light of the Body is the Eye.”
1. Peter said come and see, the woman at the well said, come and see.
2. It would be better to have no eyes than to fail to see Jesus.
3. It would be better to pull our eyes out than refuse to use them for God.

VI: We Need Eyes that are:
1. Open to God’s Church and it’s opportunities.
2. Open to our responsibilities.
3. Flooded with the light from above.

“Without a Vision, the people perish.”
