“A Man Sent from God”

John 1:6-15, 1:19-36, 3:25-36, and    Matt. 11:9-11

I: Sent from God:
1. Isaiah prophesied of the Voice crying in the Wilderness.
2. His birth announced by the Angel.
3. His name given before he was conceived.
4. His life work planned before he was born.
5. Stirred the whole population, killed by Herod.

II: He was a Country Preacher.
1. Raised in the Wilderness and Fasting of Prayer.
2. Taught by Godly parent.
3. He was simple, plain spoken, and dynamic.
4. His convictions made his message cut to the heart.
5. He was unmoved by traditions or religious leaders.
6. Willing to die rather than compromise.

III: He was Humble. He Must Increase.
1. Unworthy to untie the Sandals of Jesus.
2. Made no attempt to be the Light, but was a witness to the Light.
3. “He must increase but I must decrease.”
4. He was willing to be a Servant.

IV: He was Great:
1. “No greater that are born of women.”
2. He was not a reed shaken by the wind.
3. He was great because he served unto death.

V: “Behold the Lamb of God.”
1. Gods lamb the only one that cared.
2. “Lash her to the cross.” Dr. Scarborn and the Saxes Seminary

What kind of a witness are we this Christmas season in this sinful world?
