A New Start
John 3:1-9, Jonah 3:1-3
I: “He Knew What was in Men.”
1. Dr. give me another chance. Dr. Cronin
2. Many times Jesus refused to commit himself to men.
3. He refused to speak at Pilates command.
4. He could not do mighty works in some places because of unbelief.
5. Jesus read the very thoughts of men, Nathanael, the accusers of a sinful woman.
II: But There was a Man, a Sincere Inquirer.
1. He was always willing to reveal himself to one that seeks with all the heart.
a. God will open the door when we knock in earnest.
b. Jesus was easy to find for those who wanted to know him.
2. Nicodemus was no coward, nor was he a fool.
a. He was a man with much prestige.
b. He was willing to cross the barrier that stood between them.
c. He was not satisfied with just a taste.
d. The Law couldn’t satisfy the hunger of his heart.
III: “Ye Must be Born Again.”
1. What startling news!
2. What impossibilities!
3. What hope if this could be true.
4. “Being alive from the dead.” Rom. 6:13
5. “Being a new creature.” Cor. 2 5:17
6. “Being quickened.” Eph. 2:1
7. “Being called out of darkness into light.” Pet. 1 2:9
8. “Passing from death to life.” John 1 3:14
IV: A New Start is Possible.
1. A new start with past sins erased.
2. A new road to follow.
3. A new door to go through.
4. A new destiny in mind.
5. A new out look on life.
6. A new joy in your heart.
7. A new peace that passes understanding.
Jesus offered these to us as well as the man Nicodemus.
