“And His Disciples Believed on Him”
John 2:1-11, Prov. 20:1, 31:4-7, and Rom. 14:21
I: “And the 3rd Day.”
1. His recent return from 40 days in the Wilderness.
2. John baptism and testimony.
3. The gathering of 5 disciples.
4. These were to turn the world upside down.
II: “A Marriage in Cana.” (4 Miles North East of Nazareth).
1. “The mother of Jesus was there.” (Probably Kin Folk or real close friends).
2. Jesus and his Disciples were invited.
3. “And when they wanted wine an embarrassing situation arose.”
4. Jesus was approached by his mother.
III: “My Hour is not Yet.”
1. Jesus gently broke the mother authority.
2. He informed her that he was now about the Fathers business.
3. His most triumphant hour was not come.
4. He would move at the Fathers command.
IV: “Whatsoever He Saith Unto You, Do it!”
1. Her confidence in his ability to meet the need.
2. 6 water posts, about 4 gallons.
3. “Fill the water pots with water.”
4. His 1st Miracle.
a. Not in the Great City.
b. A humble home and at a wedding.
c. He entered into their Joy and Sorrow.
5. The Governor of the Feast.
a. One who acted as Host and Moderator.
b. Surprised at the quality.
6. The point of the story was not the intoxicating quality of the wine, but the power of Jesus over Nature.
7. His Disciples believed! The vail was lifted and they saw his dignity.
V: “Christ the Unseen Guest.”
1. “Christ is the unseen guest at every meal…”
2. He still is in the Home to meet every need.
a. To share every joy.
b. To share every sorrow.
3. He is still interested in weddings.
4. How the modern weddings and divorce rates must grieve him.
5. He sits in the Shadows waiting to be invited to participate in the activities of your home.
