Cast off the Grave Clothes
John 11:1-46
I: “He whom Thou Lovest is Sick.”:
1. His family was moved by his sickness.
2. His friends went to tell Jesus.
3. Jesus was slow in coming.
4. Jesus wept and groaned.
II: “Take Ye Away the Stone.”
1. The stone sealed the grave.
2. There was something for them to do.
3. They exercised their faith by rolling away the stone.
4. Many times we stop the mighty power of God by refusing to remove the stone.
5. The Psalms spoke of stones to be removed, ungodly counsel, standing in the way of sinners, the seat of the scornful.
6. There are stones of indifference, neglect, procrastination, and plain sin.
III: “Loose Him and Let Him go.”
1. His hands were bound, when he came from the grave, the Lord wanted his hands turned loose.
2. His feet were to be freed to serve the Lord.
3. His face was to see, speak and hear for the Lord.
4. The grave clothes will hinder our hands feet and face.
They bind us to the Old Life and speak to the World that we have not forgotten nor cast off the old man.
