Fishers of Men

Jesus was the master fisherman of all times, both for fish and for men. What do you consider your greatest fishing trip? Matt. 4:18-22, Luke 5:1-11

I: Fishing Seems to Attract All Kinds of Men.
1. When the Spring thaws come America’s fishing fever rises.
2. Fishermen of California set quite a record. 1955- Sportsmen of Calif. spent $487,000,000. Fishermen alone averaged $24.77 a day for fresh water fish, and $16.51 for salt fish. 31 million men days are provided for fishing and hunting. Fresh water fishermen averaged 15 days per license.

$21,089.00 per person spent on fishing.
$228,884,935.00 spent for fresh water fish.
$ 94,227,033.00 spent for salt water fish. A total of $322,111,968.00

Fishing Equipment $29.10
Transportation $76.19
Food and Drink $66.64
Lodging $10.89
Bait $9.15

The average Fisherman traveled 734 miles.

II: If our Christian Men would fish Like That!!!
1. If the men of our church put an average of $260.27 a year in the treasurer we would have a budget of $39,260.00.
2. If the average Christian would drive 734 miles seeking fish for God we would turn Dos Palos upside down.
3. If every man put 15 days into the labor pool of the church, nothing would go unminded.
4. If every Christian would be willing to get wet, cold, and hungry seeking a lost soul, a Revival would come.

III: Fishers of Men.
1. Go where the fish are (It’s just fishing).
2. Use the right tackle, river, lake, or ocean.
3. Use the right bait for the right fish, (red worms, or a bright fly).
4. Play the line. (Bob Carter)
5. Have patience and study weather, water, and wind.
6. Don’t mind cost and study weather, water, and wind.
7. “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” Results of a Christ-like walk.
