Eternal Life or the Wrath of God
John 3:14-21, 3:36
Here we have the two greatest contrasts found in the Bible. One hand, we have the bright picture of everlasting life, and on the other we have the darkness of Gods wrath. Here we have the choice to two ways set before us. Verse 18 tells us we must choose one of these two ways.
I: What is Eternal Life?
1. Eternal life is real life. “Lay hold on Eternal life.” Tim. 6:19
Buried in his Cadillac John Rice: “How much do you own that direction?”
Much we call life is not life, but death. “She that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.” Tim. 5:6
2. “Eternal life is an abundant life.” John 10:10
Full of beauty, joy, abounding in overflowing life.
3. Eternal life is satisfying life. Soul yearning is satisfied. A worldly life is never satisfied.
4. Eternal life is divine life. Infinite life imparted to us.
5. “Eternal life is satisfying life.” John 10:26-29 Endlessness is not the most essential its quality is more than its duration.
a. Many beautiful things fade and die.
b. Earthly things have an end.
II: What is the Wrath of God?
1. The intense and settled displeasure of God.
a. The Wrath of an individual or a nation is to be avoided.
b. The mighty ones anger is to be feared.
2. The Wrath of God will never cease to burn toward sin.
III: How can One Get Eternal Life?
1. “He that believeth.” Gods report about His son.
2. Surrender life to him as Master.
3. Put complete trust in the completed plan of Salvation.
“Life and Death. Deut. can not be earned.” 30:15
