This is My Business
John 17:1-26
I: Jesus came to Earth on the Fathers Business.
1. “I must be about my Fathers business.”
2. He came to seek and to save that which was lost.
3. He came to glorify the Father.
4. He came to set up a business that would take the good news to all the world and every generation.
II: The Prayer for the Church.
1. He gave them the Fathers words.
2. “I pray for them.” They would need prayer.
3. “I am glorified in them.” this expected.
4. He was leaving the World but they would be left. vs. 11
5. “That they might have my joy.”
6. “Keep them from evil.”
III: “I also Send Them.”
1. As sheep among wolves.
2. To preach, teach, and Baptize.
3. My business I leave with them.
IV: This is My Business.
1. “Tell him to mind his own business.” “He was.”
2. “My business is serving God. I sell shoes to pay expenses.” D.L. Moody
3. What business should crowd out His business?
V: Workman Unashamed.
1. Every child concerned about the Fathers business.
2. Where shall I start: At home. Aria and serve.
a. Worker that doesn’t know where to start is confused.
b. Our hearts as big as the world.
3. Aptitude — Fitness.
a. Work where your talent fits.
b. Train for the job, goodness alone doesn’t qualify. (The hotshot salesman).
4. Attitude — Position, Purpose, Posture.
a. A poor attitude makes work a drudgery.
b. “As hot as a depot stove on the colored side before segregation, but cold in Church.” J.D. Grey
c. Attitude of Satisfaction
d. Magnify not apologize for your business.
5. Who is the boss?
a. A workman becomes confused with too many bosses.
Everyone of us shall give an account. “I must be about my fathers business.”
