Behold the Lamb of God

Exodus 12:1-14,    John 1:19, and    Peter 1:18-19

Man’s Burden of Sin – Search for Power.
From the beginning of Sin in the Human Race, blood sacrifices has been required.
With fear the 1st couple must have witnessed the slaying of the 1st sacrifice.
With deep joy they must have accepted the substitute.
With a heart full of thankfulness, Abraham turned to the Substitute sacrifice God had provided.

With solemn thoughts and joyful anticipation, the children of Israel sprinkled the door post with the blood of a lamb.
Literally rivers of blood flowed through the years to cover the sins of Israel.

I: Then in the Fullness of Time:
1. Gods lamb quietly appeared on the scene of conflict.
2. He came to give the perfect sacrifice.
3. He came to fulfill the plans of salvation.

II: Behold the Lamb of God! King – Master, Lion of Judah, Prophet.
1. Johns heart must have burned within him as he spoke those words.
2. Gods hour had struck.
3. Gods lamb was ready.
4. The old was passing away, the new was on the scene.

III: Behold Gods Lamb!
1. Without blemish.
2. A willing sacrifice and continual forgiveness.
3. Blood in the garden.
4. Blood from the Roman Whip.
5. Blood from the Crown of Thorns.
6. Blood from his hands and feet.
7. Blood from his side.

When the storm of Gods wrath breaks, will you be safe under his blood?

Behold the Lamb of God

John meant that here was the great sacrifice for sin.
He was the true lamb which Abraham told Isaac about.
He was the true lamb of which the Passover lamb of Egypt had been a type.

He was Gods Lamb.
One can never truly know Christ until he knows him as the lamb of God.

I: He Taketh Away the Sin of the World.
1. Christ is a Saviour. He came to save sinners. To do for man what man could not do for himself. This was essential to mans happiness.
2. Christ is a complete Saviour. He taketh away sin.
3. Christ is a mighty Saviour.
a. He “taketh away the Sin of the World.”
b. He didn’t die for the Jews only.
c. He didn’t suffer for a few elite ones.
d. He paid the entire debt of the whole World.
4. Christ is a Perpetual Saviour.
a. He is daily taking away the sins of all that call upon him.
b. He didn’t cease to work for the Saints when he died on the Cross.
c. He lives in Heaven as a Priest to represent those who call upon him.

II: “Which Baptized with the Holy Ghost?”
1. No Church nor human being can perform this Baptism.
2. It is a Baptism that only Christ can perform.
3. It is a Baptism not of the body, but of the heart.
4. This Baptism is essential to Salvation. It is the New Birth.

Have you allowed Christ to bring about this change in your heart and life?
He is the dividing line between Life and Death. He is the only way to Heaven.
