God Put A Rainbow in the Sky

Genesis 9:8-17, Revelation 10:1-2

I: When God made the rainbow.
1. Judgment had been executed upon the whole world.
2. Destruction and waste caught the eye at every turn.
3. Gods wrath had burned brightly.
4. The rainbow appeared for the 1st time.

II: The Rainbow was a sign for both God and Man to see.
1. It reminds God of his covenant with man.
2. It reminds man of the promise of God.
3. It reminds God of the frailness of man.
4. It reminds man of the goodness of God.
5. Man has marveled at the rainbow and forgotten that God made it as a sign of His judgment and goodness.

III: The Rainbow is a reminder. Peter 2 3:3-4
1. It reminds man that God destroyed the old world by water.
2. It calls to mind that God will destroy the present one by fire.
3. God never changes His attitude toward sin nor his plan of dealing with sin.
4. “What manner of person ought we to be?” Conversatoin and godliness.
5. “Ye may be found in Him in peace, without spot and blameless.”

The cross of calvary is a great covenant than the rainbow.
