A Prophet Prepares for A Revival
Kings 1 18:25-41
Gods servant had spent 3 years and 6 months in a drought sustained by birds and a widow.
I: “Go show thyself unto Ahab.” 18:1-2
1. The time had come for him to face the wicked King again.
2. The King was searching thru the land for Elijah.
3. This could be a dangerous mission.
4. Gods promise was rain after Elijah faced Ahab.
II: Elijah got the Bible wide open in his 1st Message.
1. “Ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and thou hast followed Baalim.”
2. Sin was not softpetaled nor was the King given comfort.
3. The old man challenged Ahab to gather the people for a show down.
4. He invited the false prophets to the meeting.
III: His 2nd Message: “How long halt ye between 2 opionions.” undecided
1. Quit limping from 1 church to another.
2. Quit searching for God in the organizations of man.
3. Get on 1 side or another.
4. “If the Lord be God, follow him, but if Baal then follow him.”
5. The fouble minded people said not a word.
IV: Elijah faces opposition and choose the Field of battle. (Baals Prophets).
1. The false prophets prepared their bullock 1st and call upon Baal.
a. They were in a hurry to get the metting started.
b. They spent a half day calling on Baal but to no avail.
c. Elijah taunted them into great effor, even to shedding their own blood.
2. Elijah prepared the broken altar, every stone in place.
a. He made a trench about the Altar.
b. He put the wood in order.
c. He cut the bullock in pieces.
d. The cold water brigade were given a chance to stop the revival.
V: “Hear me O Lord, hear me!”
1. He could pray for fire after he had set things in order.
2. Elijah was not bothered by a guilty conscience.
3. His neglect and indifference was not there to stop the fire.
4. He had not compromised with a wicked King.
5. Then the fire of the Lord fell. “There is a sound of abundance of rain.”
1. Ahab the wicked King.
2. Elijah the Preacher of God.
3. The Undecided.
4. The Coldwater Brigade:
Baal the dead God that brought the devil in men.
The God of Abraham, Isaac and of Israel.
