In the Cave of Horeb

Kings 1 19:9-18

I: “What doest thou here, Elijah?” vs. 9
1. He was hiding from Jezebel and himself.
2. He informed God of conditions.
3. “I, even I only, am left.”
4. “And they seek my life.”
When courage is gone, we count numbers and justify our failures. On Mt. Carmel, he had a plan. On Mt. Horeb he had none.

II: “Stand upon the Mount before the Lord.”
1. “Strong wind rent the mountain, but the Lord …”
2. “An earthquake,” but the Lord.
3. “A fire,” but God.
4. “A still small voice,” and God.
5. “He wrapped his face in his mantel.”

III: New Start.
1. God gave him a new start.
2. Kings to be anointed.
3. Prophets to be anointed and trained.
4. 7,000 men to be incouraged.

IV: What are you doing here?
1. This question should be asked when in places of doubt.
2. By what excuses do we defend our presend situation?
3. God will never excuse us because we followed the crowd.
4. Others failures will not be our solution.
5 There are others that remain faithfull through the storm.
6. God doesn’t have to yett to be heard.

Where are we?
Where does God want us?
