Jesus is Coming Again
Acts 1:11, Thessalonias 1 4:16-18
The present age is Easter Time. It begins with the Resurrection of the Redeemer and ends with the Resurrection of the Redeemed.
No one can read and believe the Bible and not believe in the 2nd coming of Christ.
Just as sure as he came the 1st time as a baby in the Manger, he will come again in the clouds as King and Lord.
I: “At an hour when ye think not.”
1. Years of Prophecy proceeded the birth at Bethlehem.
2. The Religious leaders knew the Scriptures as to lineage, place of birth, and that he would be the Messiah.
3. But a hand full of Shepherds and wise men really were looking for him.
4. The world is not looking for him now.
5. The Church teaches and preaches about his coming, but few really expect him. (“The return of the soldier”).
II: Only the Doctrine of the Atonement more prominent.
1. 2nd coming mentioned 318 times in the New Testament.
2. The Promise is the promise of promises.
3. Whole chapters given to this promise: Cor. 1 15, Luke 21, Mark 13, and Matthew 24.
4. Whole books: 1st and 2nd Thessalonians.
5. No one need be ignorant of this great event.
III: A literal appearance and resurrection of the Dead.
1. The Lord himself shall decend from Heaven.
2. The dead in Christ shall rise 1st. Thessalonians 1 4:16.
3. “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the 1st resurrection; on such the 2nd death hath no power, but they shall be Priest of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” Revelation 20:6.
The wicked dead remain in the grave a 1,000 yrs. after the Tribulation period, and the Millenium they will be raised and brought to judgment before the Great White Throne.
IV: The Order of the Resurrection. Cor. 1 15:23.
1. “Christ the 1st fruits; afterward they that are Christs at his coming.”
2. “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.” Thessolonians 1 4:17.
3. There will be a great reunion.
a. “Abraham died and was gathered to his people”
b. Issac.
c. Jacob.
d. Moses: “Get thee up into the Mountain and die in the mountain, and be gathered to thy people.”
V: The Reign of Jesus on Earth:
1. R.G. Lee: “The green flower-scented oasis in the desert of time.”
2. A real rule by Jesus as King. Zechariah 14:4-5.
3. “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.”
4. “Before his coming the Devil will be unhindered for a short time.” Revelation 12:12.
5. “Satan will be bound for a thousand years.” Revelation 20:1-6. (The most notable arrest of all times).
6. “And the Lord shall be King over all the Earth; in that day shall there be 1 Lord, and his name 1.” Zechariah 14:9.
7. “Daniels night vision.” Daniel 7:13-14, 27.
8. “Justice will prevail.” Jeremiah 23:5, Isaiah 32:1.
9. “Desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose.” Isaiah 35:1-2.
10. “The desolate land shall be tilled.” Ezekiel 36:34-35.
11. “An abundance of crops.” Amos 9:13.
12. “Animal nature changed.” Ezekiel 34:25, Isaiah 11:6-8, and 65:25.
13. “War no more.” Isaiah 2:4.
14. “There shall be long life.” Isaiah 65:20.
15. “The Earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Lord.” Habakkuk 2:14.
16. “Saints shall rule.” Cor. 1 6:2, Revelation 20:4.
17. “Jerusalem shall be the center of worship.” Michah 4:1-2, Zechariah 8:20-23.
