The Other Side of the Road

Cor. 1 13:, Luke 10:30-37

I: The Jerico road, (the bloody way).
1. 21 miles of rugged wilderness.
2. A lone man traveled that way.
3. He may have traveled of necessity or by carelessness.
4. He fell among robbers, (What is yours is mine).

II: The robbers deed of the road.
1. He wants that which he can take by force.
2. He thinks the World owes him a living.
3. He feels indignant if refused the desire of his heart.
4. Others property he takes by force. “He talked too much.”

III: The Priest walked on the heartless side.
1. He was of all people the one to show compassion.
2. His very position should have caused him to stop.
3. For him to pass by was to give a lie to all he stood for.
4. For his won welfare he chose to pass on.
5. James says this mans faith was dead.

IV: The Levite walked on the side of Pity.
1. He stopped and saw.
2. He had no doubt, felt sorry.
3. But there was no compassion in his heart.
4. What his eyes saw and his ears heard didn’t move him to action.

V: The Good Samaraton walked the road of Compassion and Service.
1. He had true compassion.
2. He went to him.
3. He attended to his physical need.
4. He set him on his beast. Compassion made him willing to walk.
5. He watched over him through the night.
6. His was the road of Compassion, the road of Service, the road that pleased God.
