The Widows Empty Meal Barrel
Kings 1 17:7-24
I: “The Brook dried up.”
1. God had another place for him.
2. When the supply gives out, God steps in.
3. “Arise get thee to Zarapath, dwell there. I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”
4. “So he arose and went” not fuss, no hesitation.
II: Faith grows like a Mustardseed.
1. Boarding with crows took the fear out of the dwindling meal supply. Sing the Dovoligy.
2. Most Preachers would have turned pale.
3. Most of us would have prayed to have been excused and some scared out of service.
4. Elijah found it safe to trust the Lord with the bread question.
5. God always has someone preparing food for the faithful.
III: God chose a busy woman.
1. God never goes to the loafers bench for workers.
2. Her hospitality was paid for.
3. Elijah didn’t waste time talking about the drought, but planted her feet on the Rock of Ages.
IV: She was not too poor to serve God.
1. Though this was her last meal.
2. Her fear of the poor house was less than her love for God.
3. In her hour of need God was there.
He was poor as Jobs turkey, but he brought life to that home.
A little with God is enough!!!
God + 2 = Christian Home.
