They were noted for their self-conceit, arrogance, long prayers, tithing, fasting, and keeping of tradition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I: Some Things that the Scriptures Tell Us &amp; the Talmud:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. The Talmud says: &#8220;There were 7 kinds of Pharisees.&#8221;<!--more--><br \/>\na. Shecermites: Who keep the law for what it will prophet them.<br \/>\nb. Tumblers: Always hanging down the head &amp; draggung the feet.<br \/>\nc. Bleeders: Who to avoid looking at women shut their eyes and so bump their heads.<br \/>\nd. Mortars: Wearing caps in the form of Mortars covering the eyes from seeing impurities.<br \/>\n2. Jesus constantly opposed them.<br \/>\na. &#8220;Woe unto you Scribes, Pharisees, and Hypocrites.&#8221;<br \/>\nb. &#8220;Beward of the leaven of the Pharisees.&#8221;<br \/>\nc. Ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup.<br \/>\n3. Nicodemus, Semion, &amp; Paul were Pharisees.<br \/>\n4. They condemned the blind man that was made to see.<br \/>\n5. They brought the woman taked in adultery.<br \/>\n6. They led the crowd that crucified Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II: Their Prayer Life, Alms-giving, and Fasting:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Their Prayer life.<strong> Luke 18:11.<\/strong><br \/>\na. Loved to pray standing in the Synogogue.<br \/>\nb. Prayed on the street corners.<br \/>\nc. Lectured God on their goodness or bewailed their unworthiness.<br \/>\nd. Condemned others in their prayers.<br \/>\n2. Their Alms-giving.<strong> Matthew 6:1-<\/strong><br \/>\na. Sounded a trumpet to call attention.<br \/>\nb. Gave to receive notice of men.<br \/>\nc. Received their reward.<br \/>\n3. Their fasting:<br \/>\na. Fasted twice in the week.<br \/>\nb. Displayed their fasting by hair, face, clothes, walk, and look.<\/p>\n<p><strong>III: Except Your Righteousness Exceed:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. &#8220;Ye have heard &#8230; thou shalt not kill, but I say, Whosever is angry&#8230;&#8221;<br \/>\n2. &#8220;Ye have heard &#8230; not commit adultery, but I say, Whosoever looketh&#8230;&#8221;<br \/>\n3. &#8220;Ye have heard &#8230; an eye for an eye, but I say, whosoever shall smite&#8230;&#8221;<br \/>\n4. The Christians alms-giving&#8230; &#8220;Not thy left hand&#8230; The widdow woman put it in her gift.&#8221;<br \/>\n5. When thou prayest enter into thy closet.<br \/>\nYet Jesus prayed in public.<br \/>\n6.
