{"id":1232,"date":"2011-12-15T22:47:26","date_gmt":"2011-12-16T04:47:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=1232"},"modified":"2014-12-16T11:20:45","modified_gmt":"2014-12-16T17:20:45","slug":"wedding-garment-or-filthy-rags","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=1232","title":{"rendered":"Wedding Garment or Filthy Rags"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Matthew 22:11-14<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Clothes may not make the man, but there is one garment that means the difference in where we spend eternity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I: The World is very conscious of clothing.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Paris strives to set the pattern.<br \/>\n2. Hollywood influences the World.<br \/>\n3. Advertisement influences the clothes our children wear.<!--more--><br \/>\n4. The place we go quite often dictates the type of clothes: Formal, social, tennis, beach, mountains or church!<br \/>\n5. Our standing in life influences the clothes we wear; Farmer, business, playboy, musician, or preacher.<br \/>\n6. Our financial standing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II: Jesus told of a man that attended a wedding not properly clothed.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Many were invited that refused.<br \/>\na. Some made light of the invitation and went to their farms and stores.<br \/>\nb. Some killed his servants.<br \/>\nc. The many came from every walk of life.<br \/>\n2. This man had no excuse to give the King.<br \/>\na. The Banquet was free.<br \/>\nb. The Garment was furnished.<br \/>\nc. He wasn&#8217;t ignorant of the requirements.<br \/>\nd. He may have had many excuses for his fellow man, but not one for the King.<\/p>\n<p><strong>III: A Royal Garment or Filthy Rags.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Adam and Eve found the leaves were too thin.<br \/>\n2. Israel found that their righteousness was like filthy rags.<br \/>\n3. The men that would have stoned the woman taken in adultery found their clothing thin.<br \/>\n4. Men and women have always known they needed something to clothe the Spiritual life, but have failed in trying to clothe themselves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IV: The Robe that God Requires:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. A robe washed with blood.<br \/>\n2. Made white by the blood of the son of God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;And he said unto me, these are they which came out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the lamb.&#8221; Revelations 7:14.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>&#8220;Come now and let us reason together, said the Lord.
