{"id":1864,"date":"2013-12-21T16:52:28","date_gmt":"2013-12-21T22:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=1864"},"modified":"2014-12-16T11:20:44","modified_gmt":"2014-12-16T17:20:44","slug":"the-doom-of-a-fruitless-vine-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=1864","title":{"rendered":"The Doom of A Fruitless Vine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Isaiah 5:, Matthew 21:18-21, &amp; John 15:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I: The Opportunities of this Vineyard:<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. &#8220;A very fruitful hill.&#8221;<br \/>\n2. &#8220;He fences it,&#8221; protection.<br \/>\n3. &#8220;And gathered out the stones.&#8221;<br \/>\n4. &#8220;Planted it with the choicest vine.&#8221;<br \/>\n5. &#8220;Built a tower in the midst of it.&#8221;<br \/>\n6. &#8220;Made a wine press therein.&#8221;<br \/>\n7. What more could He have done? How near does our life compare with this vineyard?<\/p>\n<p><strong>II: &#8220;He Looked That It Should Bring Forth Grapes.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. He had every right to accept fruit.<br \/>\n2. He expected good fruit and not wild bitter grapes.<br \/>\n3. Where grace does not work, corruption will.<br \/>\n4. How much like the vineyard, when we produce grapes of melice, envy, unfairness, contentious, cursings, malice, envy, cheating, lying, etc&#8230;?<br \/>\n5. It is a dangerous thing to dishonor the gospel when it has brought honor to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>III: The Doom of A Fruitless Vine:<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. &#8220;I will take away the hedge.&#8221;<br \/>\n2. &#8220;Break down the wall.&#8221;<br \/>\n3. &#8220;I will lay it waste.&#8221;<br \/>\n4. &#8220;It shall not be pruned nor digged.&#8221;<br \/>\n5. &#8220;There shall come up briars and thorns.&#8221;<br \/>\n6. &#8220;There shall no more rain fall upon it.&#8221; God won&#8217;t allow us to continue to refuse to bare fruit, but some day removes our blessings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IV: &#8220;If A Man Abide not in Me, He Is Cast Forth As a Branch and is Withered.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. Jesus cursed the fig tree because it made a shew of bearing fruit and bore none.<br \/>\n2. He demanded fruit of the early church.<br \/>\n3. He pruned the branches that lay dormant.<br \/>\n4. He cut off those that were dead.<br \/>\n5. <strong>Tribute to pay next: <\/strong>Prayer depended upon abiding in Him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>God has not changed His mind about His people bearing fruit nor of punishing them that refuse.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Be though a blessing.&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ev<\/strong><strong>ery vine is known by its fruit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself.
