{"id":1868,"date":"2013-12-21T17:49:35","date_gmt":"2013-12-21T23:49:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=1868"},"modified":"2014-12-16T11:20:44","modified_gmt":"2014-12-16T17:20:44","slug":"gods-financial-plan-for-the-church-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=1868","title":{"rendered":"God&#8217;s Financial Plan for the Church"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Malachi 3:8-17<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The silver is mine and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of Host.&#8221; <strong>Haggai 2:8.<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8220;For all the earth is mine.&#8221; <strong>Exodus 19:5.<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8220;The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof: The world and they that dwell therein.&#8221; <strong>Psalms 24:1.<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>God owns all, man merely possesses it.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I: The Law of the Tithe Is As Old As the Human Race.<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. The tithe recognizes that God owns everything.<br \/>\n2. The tithe is God&#8217;s rent and man is the renter.<br \/>\n3. Abraham was a tither.<br \/>\n4. Jacob made a pledge to God that he would pay the tithe.<br \/>\n5. &#8220;Thou shalt truly tithe all the increases of the seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.&#8221; <strong>Deut. 14:22<\/strong>.<br \/>\n6. God closed the windows of heaven when Israel robbed him of the tithe. <strong>Malachi 3:8-17.<br \/>\n<\/strong>7. Jesus taught tithe. &#8220;Ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God; these ought ye to have done, and not leave the other undone.&#8221; <strong>Luke 11:42.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Not all ancient people offered blood sacrifices, but all tithed.<br \/>\nJesus never lowered an Old Testament Standard, but raised.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>II: God Did Not Leave the Church Without A Financial<\/strong> <strong>Plan.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. The churches business is the biggest business in the world.<br \/>\n2. To fail in our financial obligations is to put a muzzle on the church (<strong>Old Prince<\/strong>). The devil&#8217;s people move forward.<br \/>\n<strong>a. <\/strong>The early church tithed and gave liberal offerings.<br \/>\n<strong>b. <\/strong>When Church and State united, the tithe was collected by the State.<br \/>\n<strong>c. <\/strong>The church died to its obligations and the dark ages were on.<br \/>\n<strong>d. <\/strong>The churches of the reformation died from the tithe because of the abuse it had received.<\/p>\n<p><strong>III: &#8220;In Just That Way the Lord Described That Those Who Preach the Good News Should Get Their Living from It.&#8221; Cor. 1 9:1-18<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. Paul and Barnabas had a right to take a wife with them and to expect support from the churches.<br \/>\n2. &#8220;You shall not muzzle the ox that is treading out the grain.&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>a. <\/strong>God was concerned about the muzzle that tight-fisted, selfish men would put on his ministers.<br \/>\n<strong>b. <\/strong>He was concerned about the muzzle being so tight that the work would be hindered.<br \/>\n3. The plowman ought to plow in hope of sharing in the increase crop.<br \/>\n<strong>One out of every six verses in the gospels deals with Sharing.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IV: Paul&#8217;s Apology to the Church Of Corinth. Cor. 2 11:7-11, 12:11-13<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. I preached to you without pay.<br \/>\n2. I robbed other churches (someone had to food the bill).<br \/>\n3. I never burdened you with my needs, the brothers from Macedonia met my needs.<br \/>\n4. In what way did the other churches have advantage of you?<br \/>\n<strong>a. <\/strong>I failed to teach you tithe.<br \/>\n<strong>b. <\/strong>I failed to teach you to meet the burdens of a preacher.<br \/>\n<strong>c. <\/strong>&#8220;You must forgive that wrong.&#8221; It is not your money but yourselves that I want.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you robbing God?<br \/>\nWill you make a pledge to meet the tithe this coming year?<br \/>\nDo you believe in pledge? To wife, to landlord, to credit place, why not to God?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>01\/31\/1970: Emmanuel Baptist &#8211; Dos Pales.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cor. 1 9:1-18, Steward Ship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I: God Set the Tithe for the Church.<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. Jesus commended the tithe. <strong>Matthew 23:23.<br \/>\n<\/strong>2. Jesus never once left the impression that grace excluded the tithe.<br \/>\n3. The Pharisees thought Jesus was a tither.<br \/>\n4. The Apostles believed and practiced the tithe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II: Paul Taught Tithing to Corinth: <\/strong>(<strong>Chapter 9<\/strong>)<strong>.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Vindicated his Apostleship, (<strong>4 teachings of Paul<\/strong>).<br \/>\n2. Stated his right to be cared for by the church.<br \/>\n3. Quoted the law and said plainly, God ordained the same principles of finance for the New Testament Church.<br \/>\n4. He worked rather than have them misunderstand him on the money question.<br \/>\n5. Paul stated a time to pay the tithe. <strong>Cor. 1 16:1-4.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>III: Paul Taught Tithe and Offerings:<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. <strong>Cor. 2 8:1-15: <\/strong>The liberality of Macedonia.<br \/>\n2. Corinth urged to excel in an offering for Jerusalem.<br \/>\n3. &#8220;Let your readiness to undertake be equaled by how you finish up.&#8221;<br \/>\n4. The value of gift is in proportion to what He has.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IV: Gifts and Willingness To Give:<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. The man who sows sparingly will reap sparingly.<br \/>\n2. The man who sows generously&#8230;<br \/>\n3. Everyone give as He has made up his mind not reluctant, nor under compulsion. &#8220;God loves a man who is glad to give.&#8221;<br \/>\n4. &#8220;God is able to provide&#8230;&#8221;<br \/>\n5. Their liberality would be noticed by men and bring praise to God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>V: Paul&#8217;s Only Apology, Cor. 2 11:7-11.<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. &#8220;I preached God&#8217;s good news to you without any compensation.&#8221;<br \/>\n2. &#8220;I robbed other churches.&#8221;<br \/>\n3. &#8220;Even when I was with you, and very hard up, I did not bother any of you.&#8221;<br \/>\n4. &#8220;I kept myself from being a burden to you&#8230;&#8221;<br \/>\n5. What makes you feel so inferior to other churches? Is it because I have not allowed you to support me financially?
