{"id":662,"date":"2011-08-11T09:41:42","date_gmt":"2011-08-11T14:41:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=662"},"modified":"2014-12-16T11:21:26","modified_gmt":"2014-12-16T17:21:26","slug":"the-ghost-of-achan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=662","title":{"rendered":"The Ghost of Achan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Acts 5:1-16<\/strong><br \/>\nThe sin of Achaean brought disaster to the armies of Israel.<br \/>\nThe Sin of Ananias and Sapphira could have stopped the Churches witnessing.<\/p>\n<p><strong> I: Fellowship at it&#8217;s Best:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. &#8220;They went to their own.&#8221; <strong>Acts 4:23<\/strong><br \/>\n2. Their only fear was the fear that they might fail.<br \/>\n3. Prayer together as a Church was their source of Power.<br \/>\n4. None said what he had was his own.<br \/>\n5. To them the Spiritual was supreme over the Material.<br \/>\n6. The Apostles were able to preach with Power because of the Spirituality of the Church.<br \/>\n7. The Word was preached with Power because it&#8217;s being lived by the Church.<br \/>\n8. Barnabas the Son of encouragement, gave money from land he had sold.<\/p>\n<p><strong> II: Fraud at it&#8217;s Worst:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. The Perils without the Church could resist.<br \/>\n2. This was a far more dangerous attack.<br \/>\n3. Theirs was not the Sin of refusing to give.<br \/>\n4. It was the Sin of Lying about the amount they gave.<br \/>\n5. Jesus denounced Hypocrisy more than any Sin.<br \/>\n6. Ananias and Sapphira loved self more than Christ.<br \/>\n7. God spoke to Achaean and he spoke to these that would lie to the Church.<\/p>\n<p><strong> III: Fear and Growth:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. This fear was felt by those outside the Church Fellowship.<br \/>\na. When God controls a church, the World has respect for her.<br \/>\nb. Men would be afraid to join the Church carelessly.<br \/>\nc. The Church that has the discipline of Holiness need not fear plain joiners!<br \/>\n2. Fear was upon the Church Members.<br \/>\na. No lying about Gifts.<br \/>\nb. No lying about Service.<br \/>\nc. No lying about Causes that kept from Service.<br \/>\nd. We need to see in our Church the Power of God so manifested that members would fear God.<br \/>\n3. Fear and Growth.<br \/>\na. Yes people did join.<br \/>\nb.
