It was an occasion of hospitality but they were watching him.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I: Jesus watched and observed them.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. He saw the man with dropsy.<!--more--><br \/>\nHe knew why the man was there.<br \/>\n2. He was how pride made them seek the best seats.<br \/>\n3. He saw that the host had invited a choice crowd.<br \/>\n4. Then he healed the sick man, shamed the guest and criticized the host.<br \/>\n5. Some one saw in the words he spoke a picture of the Kingdom of God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II: Then Jesus told of a great supper.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Many were invited.<br \/>\n2. All the guests declined.<br \/>\n3. None said no, but all gave excuses.<br \/>\n4. What was the real reason?<br \/>\na. They didn&#8217;t like the host.<br \/>\nb. They didn&#8217;t like the guest he might have.<br \/>\nc. They were contented to go about their own selfish way.<br \/>\n5. Then those in the streets of the city were invited.<br \/>\n6. &#8220;Go into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in.&#8221;<br \/>\n7. The host swore that those giving excuses would never eat at his table.<\/p>\n<p><strong>III: Jesus placed all excuses in 3 forms:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. The care of this world.<br \/>\na. The cares of living.<br \/>\nb. The worry of keeping things in order.<br \/>\nc. Letting these crowd out time for God.<br \/>\n2. The deceitfulness of riches.<br \/>\nThe love of the filthy luker has been one of the main excuses of the ages.<br \/>\n3. The pleasures of life.<br \/>\na. Pleasure is one of the most lied about excuses we use.<br \/>\nb. Regardless of what form it takes it is sin for pleasure to keep us from God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IV: Will our excuses stand 3 tests?<\/strong><br \/>\n1. The test of the hour.<br \/>\n2. The test of years (In a long period).<br \/>\n3.
