{"id":856,"date":"2011-11-25T17:57:23","date_gmt":"2011-11-25T23:57:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=856"},"modified":"2014-12-16T11:21:26","modified_gmt":"2014-12-16T17:21:26","slug":"grace-abounding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.georgefindley.com\/?p=856","title":{"rendered":"Grace Abounding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Christian life is a life of giving or it becomes a miserable life.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Jesus came from Heavens splendor to Earth&#8217;s poverty as a gift to a lost and dying world.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Jesus came not to be ministered to, but to minister.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> The root word from which we get Deacon and Pator means to serve.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> &#8220;It is more blessed to give than to receive.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I: To live or not to live a life of Grace.<!--more--><\/strong><br \/>\n1. Grace appears in chpt. 8 seven times.<br \/>\na. Early meaning: Beauty, order, health, love, contrasted with ugliness, chaos, and sickness.<br \/>\nb. Later meaning: To impart these to others.<br \/>\n2. Grace will abound in giving freely.<br \/>\n3. He that soweth sparingly reaps sparingly.<br \/>\n4. He that looseth his life shall find it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II: The Church of Macedonia.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Moved by the grace of God.<br \/>\n2. &#8220;Gave themselves&#8221; one must give self to God 1st or all giving soon becomes a burden.<br \/>\n3. &#8220;To the glory of the Lord!&#8221;<br \/>\n4. &#8220;In heavy trials which proved their steadfastness.&#8221;<br \/>\n5. &#8220;The fullness of their joy was overflowed, out of the depth of their poverty, in the richness of their liberality.&#8221;<br \/>\n6. &#8220;Beyond their means, and that of their own free will.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>III: &#8220;That this grace may not be wanting in you.&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n1. A year previous they had pledged themselves to this gift.<br \/>\n2. The time to do was at hand.<br \/>\n3. The Church at Corinth was falling because:<br \/>\na. Divisions concerning preachers.<br \/>\nb. Open sin condoned.<br \/>\nc. A slackness of doctrinal teaching.<br \/>\nd. They demanded little from its members.<br \/>\n4. Sin keeps an individual or a church from the grace of giving.<br \/>\n5. Strife and sin had dried up the Fountain of Giving.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IV: Abounding Grace.<\/strong><br \/>\n1. No individual or church will abound in giving until the vision of a lost world and a seeking Saviour becomes real.<br \/>\n2. No Christian will grow to the full stature in Christ who has not learned the art of giving.<br \/>\n3. The Christian that lives to get lives on a milk diet and is dwarfed in his Christian experiences.<br \/>\n4.
