A Glorious Church

Acts 2:1-6, Eph. 5:20-27

I: Glorious in its Beginning.
1. Built upon the solid rock Christ Jesus.
2. It began as a beacon light in a dark and confused world.
3. Christ chose the workers to launch the church on its early journey.
4. He paid the full price for the men and women that would make up the church.

II: Glorious in the Power of Pentecost:
1. The masses of people were shaken from their sleep of death.
2. The sluggard was stirred and the careless took heed.
3. The crowds came to see the marvels of a church filled with power.
4. The church generated enough force to stop the drift of the passing multitude.
A revival broke out when the church was filled with power.

III: Glorious in Conquest: Like A Mighty Army Moves the Church of God.
1. They went everywhere preaching the good news.
2. They not only sang like an army, but went out to storm the strong hold of satan.
3. Their songs were songs of tried and proven warriors.
4. They knew how to pray all night.
5. They were not afraid to say to the blind see, and to the lame, walk.
6. They were not influenced by the world, but they made the world feel the influence of the church.

IV: Glorious in Its Mission.
1. There is no lodge or party of men that has the task of importance like unto the church.
2. There is no group of people that has a command like that given to the New Testament church.
3. There is no mission that the success will mean so much or the failure so horrible.
4. We deal with the true wealth of the world when we deal with should.
5. We fight the most important battle when we wrestle with the powers of darkness for the souls of men.
6. We wear the weapons that are never out of date when we put on the whole armor of God.
7. Verse 25: “Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it.”
